Virgin River 3 Whispering Rock by Robyn Carr
This took a while to get through. The book itself was good but a lot of times while I was on break I played games instead of reading. Shakes my head in disgust. While there are no problems with games, they get frustrating when you get to higher levels. When the levels get too hard-since I don't want to pay money to get powerups-then I stop playing. This is a list of some of my games:

Yeah I guess it is good that these levels get almost impossible to beat. That gives me a good reason to delete the apps from my phone and resume with my reading.
Now back to the story.
Mike Rodriguez in one of the main characters in Whispering Rock. In the first two books he played a minor role. He is a hunting and fishing buddy of Jack Sheridan-remember this is Mel's husband. They both were in the Marine Corps together and Mike and several other buddies come to Virgin River a couple times a year to check on Jack since he suffers from PTSD-this is revealed in Book 1-which by the way is Virgin River.
Mike is an LAPD cop and in Book 2 he is shot in the line of duty and moves to Virgin River to recover both physically and mentally.
In Whispering Rock Jack's youngest Brie sister is sexually assaulted and beaten. She is a prosecutor and she lost a case where a serial rapist was sent free. He had attacked her as revenge and as a warning. A majority of the story involves mike helping her recover so she is not afraid of the world and eventually a friendship between the two builds into a romantic relationship and marriage.
One side story involves a group of girls who get drugged at a kegger and get assaulted. Mike becomes a local cop and helps find the individual by the end of the book.
Another side story involves Paul, Matt and Vanessa. Vanessa is married to Matt and is pregnant. She returned to Virgin River to be with her family while Matt goes off to Iraq. Paul is Matt's best friend and had a secret crush on Vanessa and was working on his way to asking her out. However, Matt got to her first. Then Matt is killed by a roadside bomb and we may see a relationship form in future books.
For the Virgin River series, there are about 20 books so far. I think I can handle maybe 3-4 books a year.
